Charity Event in Gloucester

Kicking off the Christmas Season!

On the 1st December I volunteered my entertainment services free of charge for a Gloucester based nursing team and their patients.

Barton Gate District Nursing Team held a Christmas party for their patients in celebration of the 'Look After Your Legs' initiative.

The campaign includes a weekly clinic for patients to visit. The clinic was set up 8 years ago to raise awareness of the importance of keeping your legs healthy. It provides vital information, support from other patients and is a social event for those who would otherwise be sat at home alone.

I sang a mixture of 50s and 60s, Christmas carols and party songs to brighten up the party. It was great to see some up dancing and singing along with a big smile on their face!

I'd like to thank all the staff at the party for making me feel so welcome on the day.

Aylesbury on Sea - 19th July 2009

On Sunday 19th July I performed a 45 minute set at the Aylesbury on Sea event.

The organisers did a great job of setting the scene and inviting various acts to perform. The day would have been perfect if the weather had been better (yes it poured with rain!) but we all made the most of it and the sun did make an appearance!

I sang a mixed modern set with songs by KT Tunstall, Lucie Silvas, Celine Dion, Amy Winehouse and Duffy. I also added some 80's classics before ending with my original song 'Home'.

I really enjoyed being in my hometown and providing some live music for a very successful event.

See the picture taken by freelance photographer, Ray Ghent on the day.

Photoshoot

I took part in a photoshoot in Buckinghamshire on 21st February. The main aim of the shoot was to create some natural pictures in a rural setting. I was very pleased with the results and feel the pictures mark the beginning of a new stage in my work.

This new phase has seen the addition of slower, soulful songs to my repertoire. Rather than songs which uplift and create a party atmosphere, I have been working on songs with a darker tone (Back to Black - Amy Winehouse) songs about love (How Do I Live - LeAnn Rimes ) and just plain emotional songs! (Songbird - Eva Cassidy) These songs require me to focus on sadder feelings rather than happy thoughts!

Whilst singing these songs I like to be as natural as possible and dont concentrate so much on being 'note perfect' - but communicating how it 'feels'. I think this captures the essence of being human by creating an imperfect but very real performance.

You will be able to see all the photos in my gallery soon!

Love,

Olivia

Updates

Hello,

Do you want to know the latest news in the world of Olivia and E.L.E? :)

I performed two sets at the Royal British Legion in Hemel Hempstead on Saturday 14th February. It was a fabulous night. The venue was great and the place was packed out! As it was Valentines Night I sang some very special love songs: 'I Will Always Love You' and 'Get Here'. I also sang 60's party classics and some modern soul songs. The crowd really enjoyed my set and gave me lots of encouragement and appreciation. I enjoyed watching the other act for the evening, 'Walk Right Back' as they whisked the audience back to the 50's and 60's for some hot jive dancing!! I want to learn how to jive now...

On Sunday the 15th of February I exhibited at a Wedding Fayre in Beaconsfield. I sang about 5 sets throughout the day to advertise my entertainment services for upcoming weddings. I sang a mixture of slow and upbeat songs. My favourite for the day were: Songbird by Eva Cassidy, With or Without You by U2, Baby Love by the Supremes and Warwick Avenue by Duffy.

This Thursday I am heading to the recording studio to complete my vocal parts on my first original song, 'Home'. I can't wait to show you the finished piece!

And finally, I am modelling for a photographer and friend of mine on Saturday, see http://www.msw-design.co.uk/ The plan for the day is to create some wintery shots in a rural setting. Also modelling is a great friend of mine, Charli Keeler, who is an aspiring model and semi-pro dancer. She has danced in some of my shows, including at the BCCB at Madame Tussauds in October 07.

I have some last minute availability for March, should you require some (brilliant) entertainment for a party or event, just pop a quote request in!

Love to all,

Olivia
